We firmly believe in Jesus’ command that we go forth as his disciples to do the Lord’s work. This is readily reflected in First Presbyterian Church as our staff and lay people strive to work within our community and extend help to those in need. We stress God’s love and salvation, and endeavor to do unto the less fortunate as we do unto each other. Our congregation understands stewardship is about caring and the giving of time as well as money. Although we are aware that national and international missions need our support, we are particularly sensitive to the needs of our community. Our congregation expresses its discipleship through the Macomb Literacy Project, tutoring, camp for children of substance abuse parents, Bags ‘n’ Bucks (community food bank), backpacks and supplies for local Head Start students, clothes closet, food baskets at Thanksgiving and Easter, Salvation Army lunches and bell ringing, Helping Hands, and MCREST. We offer the use of our building to AA, STEP, blood banks, and other community groups. We believe the church is not just about Sunday services or its pastor, but an everyday reaching out to others.
