The Hans Accept a Call to serve a Church in Waterloo, Iowa

The Hans will bless Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, Iowa with their faith, dignity and musicianship beginning January 1, 2010.  We will sorely miss the Han family.  Thank you Taemin, Miah, Grace and Solomon for sharing your gifts in this part of God’s church.

 

Praising God with music is an integral part of our Christian life. We have various musical groups you can join - Chancel, Handbell, Covenant(K-2nd), Covenant(3rd-5th) and Celebration (6th-12th) choirs and Instrumental Ensemble. Newcomers are always welcome for the regular choir season from September through May and guest members for seasonal events such as Fine Arts Public Concerts, Christmas and Easter services. If you are interested, contact Music Director or choir members.

Handbell Choir: Mondays 7:15 pm
Our Handbell choir uses five octaves of Malmark handbells and two octaves of Malmark Choir Chimes. The choir performs about once a month during Worship and for special occasions The choir rings from September through May. We would love to have others share in this great musical experience. Larry Huntington leads this group.

Chancel Choir: Thursdays 7:15 pm
This is the main vocal group for adults. We sing a wide range of sacred music, from Renaissance to Contemporary, for Sunday services from September to May and special music events. If you can sing hymns in tune, no further music skills are needed to join us! (Your musical journey will begin here.)

 

Children’s and Youth Choirs:

Covenant (K-2nd) and Calvin(3rd-5th): Sunday mornings from 9:50 - 10:30 a.m. 

We teach children how to read music and sing songs that will become part of the leadership in worship services.  The Covenant and/or Calvin Choir will sing on the fourth Sunday of the month and participate special music worships such as Christmas and Musical Sunday. These experiences will guide them in sincere Christian life through their whole life. This choir will be led by Sue Peters.

 

Celebration choir: Sunday morning following Faith Development

We teach children how to read music and sing songs that will become part of the leadership in worship services. The Celebration Choir will sing on the first Sunday of the month at the Traditional Worship, and participate special music worships such as Christmas and Musical Sunday. These experiences will guide them in sincere Christian life through their whole life. This choir will be led by Sue Peters.

 

Instrumental Ensemble: Sunday 8:15 a.m. as scheduled.

This musical group is for wind, brass and percussions and plays for Sunday service about once a month and performs for church public concerts. Junior and senior students and returning instrumental players from their school years enjoy the music together. Larry Huntington leads this group.

Morning Glory Worship Time

9:00 AM - 9:45 AM - "Come Casual, Leave Fulfilled” gives focus to our  Morning Glory Worship at 9:00 a.m.  Grab a cup of coffee, have a seat at one of the tables, enjoy some conversation with newly found friends, and worship in an intimate environment which will give you spiritual food for the coming week.”

 

Coffee Hour/Fellowship Time

 9:45 AM - 10:15 AM - A nice time to meet and greet your friends over a cup of coffee between the services

 

Traditional Service Times

10:15 AM - 11:15 AM - “The 10:15 a.m.Traditional Worship , complete with chancel choir, prayers, scripture readings  and the proclamation of God’s Word will create for you an Hour of Hope in a Joyful Worship style.  ‘Come as a guest; leave as family’ denotes the attitude of the homey  friendly atmosphere.”
