4 GOSPELS + 4 NIGHTS = 1 SAVIOR Take a crash course in learning about the life and purpose of Jesus Christ. For four nights in September, Monday-Thursday, Sept. 13-16, a series of classes will focus on various aspects of the ministry of Jesus and what the four Gospels tell us about him. The classes will run 7-9:30 p.m. each night and will include a refreshment break. The classes are ideal for teens and adults and are a perfect time to invite a friend, co-worker or family member to the church. Topics to be covered include Jesus’ birth, the parables, His miracles, key sayings, death and resurrection. Leading the classes will be Pastors Roxie and Bill, Pastoral Assistant Dan Heaton and Elders Tom Davies, Joe Moore, and Bill Herhilan. A NEW MONEY MATTERS CLASS BEGINS If you haven’t had a chance to take the Money Matters Class on Money Management, Financial Stability, and Patterns of Giving, here is your chance! On Thursday, September 2nd, a new class will begin at 7:00 and end at 8:30 p.m. It will continue through the month of September and October, ending on Thursday, November 4th. There will be nine different classes with one break mixed in. You do not need to be in financial ruin to take this class; it can be a preventive class so you don’t fall into financial ruin! It is a class where you will get some practical tips on how to trim your spending lifestyle but also what the Bible says about money so that faith and finances intersect. Look for the sign-up sheet in the Narthex or talk with Pastor Roxie or Judi Armstrong, class co-leaders. NEW ADULT EDUCATION TEACHER Elder Bill Herhilan will be joining the volunteer staff in adult education this coming fall. He will be teaching a variety of topics throughout the year. Please keep a lookout for the classes he will be teaching-- probably at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning and on a week night. Bill has a lot of experience as an adult educator and we welcome him into the mix of adult education. ADD THE BIBLE TO YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA DAY Have you joined the church on Facebook, yet? Want to put a little Scripture lesson into your daily routine? First Presbyterian Church’s Facebook page features (mostly) daily Bible verses with commentary by Pastoral Assistant Dan Heaton. Dan recently concluded a series of verses and comments on the books of Joshua and Ephesians and has recently begun examining the Gospel according to Luke. Your comments and questions are always welcome as part of the discussion.
