Our church motto is “Come as a Guest, Leave as Family.”  We hope that when you come and visit First Presbyterian Church of Mount Clemens, you will be filled with the spirit of our Lord and you will find a church home where your faith will grow.

Our Leadership

Our leadership begins with Jesus Christ at the top.  From Jesus Christ we take our cues and seek Jesus Christ’s will for this church.  Through study of scripture and prayer we try to discover the will of Jesus Christ for this church.  We have a Session of 15 elected Elders.  The word for “Elder” in Greek is “Presbuteros.”  Leadership comes from Jesus Christ, the head of our church, to the Elders and to all God’s servants in this church.  The Elders are not presumed to have a better concept of God’s will.  Elders are elected for three year terms to seek God’s will for this church.  Elders are chosen for their important position due to their spiritual maturity.  Session is the Body that governs the church as directed by Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  Members also are taught to seek God’s will through study of Scripture and prayer.  Members often get inspiration for programs with the Session supporting the ministry of the members.

The Pastors moderate Session and work with Session to seek the will of Jesus Christ for the church.  The Pastors work with Session to catch God’s vision for the church, and to move together toward that Vision.  Our vision is to share Jesus Christ with God’s people in the church family and those not yet in the church family.
